Commanding Your Morning devotion 29/03/2024
Verse:
Joel 2:12-13 (NIV) – “Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and
weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is
gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.”
Explanation:
In these verses, God calls His people to genuine repentance and wholehearted return to Him.
The imagery of fasting, weeping, and mourning signifies deep sincerity and humility before God. God desires
not just outward displays of remorse but a true transformation of the heart. He is gracious,
compassionate, and loving, ready to forgive and bring restoration when His people turn to Him
wholeheartedly.
Prayer:
Merciful Father,
We come before You with contrite hearts, acknowledging our need for Your forgiveness and grace.
Help us to truly repent, not just outwardly but from the depths of our hearts. Restore in us a fervent love for
You and a desire to walk in Your ways. Thank You for Your compassion and love that never fail. In Jesus’
name, Amen.
