Human Love vs. God’s Love: Like Apples and Stars!
Love is amazing, but there’s a big difference between the love we share with friends and family and the love we experience from God. Here’s a breakdown to understand it better:
Human Love: It’s Awesome, But Sometimes Fickle
Imagine a delicious, juicy apple. That’s kind of like human love! It can be fun, exciting, and make you feel happy. But just like an apple, human love can change. Friendships might fade, and sometimes people don’t love us back the way we love them.
- Conditional: Our love for others can depend on their actions. If someone is nice to us, we love them back. If they’re mean, our love might fade.
- Imperfect: We mess up sometimes, and that can affect our relationships. We might say something hurtful or be jealous, even though we don’t mean to.
Story Time:
Mia and Sarah were best friends. They did everything together. But then Sarah started hanging out with a new group, and Mia felt left out. Mia’s love for Sarah felt smaller because Sarah wasn’t giving her as much attention. This shows how human love can change based on situations.
God’s Love: Like a Bright, Steady Star!
Now imagine a giant, shining star in the night sky. That’s kind of like God’s love! It’s always there, no matter what.
- Unconditional: God’s love for you never changes, no matter what you do (Romans 8:38-39). He loves you even when you make mistakes!
- Perfect: God’s love is always pure and complete. He loves you because of who you are, not what you do.
Story Time:
Ben was feeling down because he got a bad grade on a test. He worried God wouldn’t love him anymore. But then he remembered the verse about God’s love being like a shepherd who never loses his sheep (Psalm 23). No matter how many mistakes Ben made, God’s love for him would always be there, guiding him like a bright star.
Remember: Both human love and God’s love are important! Our love for friends and family brings joy to our lives, and God’s love gives us a foundation of security and acceptance.
