WHAT IS RIGHTEOUSNESS?
Righteousness is our nature as believers, it is a gift from God we were made righteous from the day we got born again into the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 5:21) he was made sin for us to be made the righteousness of God.
1 john 5:1 whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
It says we are BORN of God that is to say you carry God’s DNA, you are a child of God since you carry God’s nature 1 john 3:9
A lion will not give birth to a dog because that’s not what it is, a lion will always produce a lion, same applies to us as children of God.
One of the issues believers have each time they sin or do wrong is that they forget who they are, who they come from we tend to have an identity crisis, and any one with identity crisis cannot win in the kingdom of God, victory begins with knowing who you are.
1 john 3:9 whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin, because God’ seed remains in them, they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God
Things to note about righteousness
- We live a holy life because we have a righteous nature not the other way round, people tend to think because they try to live holy then they become righteous that is wrong. it is our righteous nature that compels us to live holy.
- Righteousness is our nature being born by God at salvation.
- Righteousness is a gift from God, and the gift God are without repentance. that is to say nothing can reverse it. When a man barks like a Dog it doesn’t make him a dog, he is just not behaving like he should.it does not change is nature as a man.
- Righteousness is not a result of your holy living rather holy living is result of your righteous nature
- Being conscious of you righteous nature will help you live a righteous life.
Prayer:
Father I thank you for the gift of righteousness which have given to me from salvation, help me to become more conscious of it, and allow this knowledge to transform my life into your image. That men will see your nature in me and come to you.
